Sunset Child Care Society, better known as Sunset Daycare, is a registered non-profit organization that has been serving South Vancouver since January 27, 1977. As a society we operate with a Board of Directors that is made up of four mandatory positions (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer) with additional Members at Large, of which there is no limit.
The Board is comprised of parent and community volunteers who are responsible to Little Mountain Neighbourhood House (LMNH), a larger society that began administrating us in May of 1998. LMNH is located at 3981 Main St. and their role is to manage our finances and provide administrative support. In addition, with their diverse selection of programs including another daycare center and many family/community related events, they are a fantastic resource. The Center has a maximum daily capacity of twenty-five (25) children. The program welcomes children from 2 1/2 to 5 years of age and it also integrates children who require extra support (special needs). All teachers hold a license in Early Childhood Education and at least one teacher carries a license in Special Needs. They all are required to keep an up-to-date first aid certificate and participate in regular workshops/seminars to keep up with their license requirements. A vegetarian hot lunch is also included in the program. We have a qualified and experienced cook who provides a nutritious and well-balanced menu. In addition to the lunch the children are provided with a morning and afternoon snack made by a teacher. |
